Virtual Vox – Spring into Summer

Summer 2020 – Virtual Vox sings Liane Carroll and Edward Lear

Streaming on YouTube from Saturday 11 June

Music that sings across centuries will feature in a unique pairing of jazz legend Liane Carroll and classical composer Edward Elgar for a concert guaranteed to transport you out of the isolation blues.

The evening is an all-star showcase for the the latest commission by North London’s dynamic community choir, Vox Holloway. It features a new choral arrangement of Elgar’s 1899 song cycle Sea Pictures by Vox’s musical supremo Harvey Brough, alongside jazz standards and originals from one of the UK’s most exciting contemporary performers.

Carroll – described in the Guardian as “a powerful, soul-inflected performer with an Ella Fitzgerald-like improv athleticism and an emotional frankness on ballads” – will lead a line-up that also features Vox Holloway’s own all-star soloists Christina Gill, Clara Sanabras and Harvey Brough.

They are joined by James Maddren on drums, and Andy Hamill on bass.

The concert will be streamed from Vox Holloway’s YouTube page: https://www.youtube.com/user/voxholloway/featured
It will be available from 8pm on Saturday 11th July, and will stay available over the following week.
