Ona’s Flood concert – Sunday 29 March

ONA'S FLOOD_FLYERJoin us on Sunday 29 March at St Luke’s Holloway for our performance of Ona’s Flood.

The London premiere of Harvey Brough’s Ona’s Flood will tell the story of a young girl, Ona, who has a premonition of a modern day flood. The choir will be joined by an instrumental ensemble of 16, including strings, piano organ, timps, percussion, bugles and handbells and youth choirs from Parliament Hill School and William Ellis School.

The concert will also feature brand new settings of a suite of poems (by Edgar Allan Poe, John Oxenham, François Coppée and Clara Sanabras) on the theme of Submerged Cities – the world premiere of The City in The Sea.

This performance is made possible by lottery funding – public funding by Arts Council England.

Spring 2015: Ona’s Flood – join us!

Rehearsals have started for our Spring 2015 term, but it’s not certainly not too late to join! Do come along on Tuesday (sign-up from 7pm for a 7.30pm singing start).   Here is some info if you are considering joining us for the first time.

This term we will be singing Harvey Brough’s Ona’s Flood. Our concert will take place on Sunday 29 March 2015.

All-day Singing Workshop, Sat 17 January 2015

Vox Holloway is holding a third all-day singing workshop, to take place on Sat 17 January 2015. The day will comprise 3 workshops on singing by ear, choral techniques and musical tips for sight-reading. You can explore your voice, improve your singing, get to know members of your local community and most importantly have lots of fun, as the video of our first workshop shows below.

  • When: Saturday 17 January 2015, 10am – 6pm.
  • Where: St Luke’s Church, Hillmarton Road, West Holloway, London N7 9RE
  • Price: £20 (includes a buffet lunch – please let us know of any special dietary requirements). Bursaries are available for anyone short of funds.
  • Tickets: Available via Eventbrite and are likely to be available on the door.
  • Who can attend: The workshop is open to anyone 16 years and over – you don’t have to be a member of Vox Holloway – and we welcome singers of all abilities: both those new to singing and more experienced singers.

Our 5th Anniversary Concert, Sun 30 November

Join us on Sunday 30 November at St Luke’s, Holloway,  for our 5th Anniversary concert.

We are returning to our roots by performing once again Harvey Brough’s Requiem in Blue. We will be joined by Camden Youth Choir, Camjam (another local youth choir), an 8-piece orchestra, and acclaimed jazz soloists Liane Carroll and Emily Dankworth.

The concert will also feature Songs in the Theme of Love: a suite of songs by Nigerian singer-songwriter Ben Okafor, combining lyrical African heritage, classic folk protest and driving reggae beats.

Songs of Spanish Exile, Fri 14 Nov

Vox Holloway will be singing Songs of Spanish Exile with the amazing Clara Sanabras at Heath Street Baptist Church in Hampstead.

All proceeds go to the UN fund for Iraqi refugees (UNHCR). Watch this short video about the aid operation currently underway in Iraq.
